Structural Tapestry with Betty Hilton - Nash
In this 3 day class you will learn how to adapt a
one dimensional design into a 3 dimensional
cartoon for tapestry weaving. You will warp your
looms with linen and weave this cartoon using a
mix of different wefts, wool, linen, nettle, raffia,
silk, rag rug style strips of cloth, etc. We will be
focusing on making vessels of different shapes and
sizes.
No armature is needed because of the use of the
stiffer wefts and a firm beat which will give the
piece enough body to stand on it’s own.
Different finishing techniques will be discussed.
Please bring any weft materials you might want to
experiment with, but warp and weft materials will
also be provided.
This is an intermediate tapestry weaving class, you
must be able to independently warp a loom and
weave a one dimensional tapestry on your own.
You will be using your own looms, do not pre-warp
