This workshop features Robyn Spady presenting live via zoom, bringing professional insight and techniques directly to you. There are two options for participation.
Weave - Along in person - Gather at the Yadkin Valley Fiber Center with other fiber enthusiasts. In the studio at the Yadkin Valley Fiber Center, you’ll not inly view the zoom instruction together but also explore the techniques on the loom, share ideas, and learn collaboratively in a hands on community environment. Lunch and printed materials provided in class $275 Registration deadline October 5
Optional in person- have the loom warped for you - $300
Online only - Watch the full Zoom presentation from the comfort of your own space, ask questions, and learn alongside fellow weavers. $200 Registration deadline October 5.
Whether you immerse yourself in the in - person weave- along or join from home, you’ll come away with fresh skills, inspiration, and connections in the weaving community.
This class has a total Maximum enrollment of 12 - register early to reserve your space!
Day One - Twills: The Basics and Beyond . . . starting with a short overview of twills (e..g, straight, point, broken, advancing, etc.) participants will develop a common understanding and language which will cover parallel twills, two-color, four-color, and one-color (referred to as double diagonal twills)
Day Two - An Introduction to Network Drafting . . . Participants will look at two different methods of creating network-drafted twills . . . which creates curves.
Day Three - An Introduction to Turned Taqueté/Jin . . .starting with an introduction to tied weaves, and what exactly is turned taqueté (also referred to as Jin) participants will look at a method for developing treadling techniques that may be used for both single and parallel threadings.
